Duchess, Grind Sweep Elims06/19/2019 6:05 PM - Carol Jamieson Parker's Dark Dutchess ($2.40, Jack Parker Jr.) and Andrew Glassmeyer’s Embrace The Grind ($2.20, Jon Roberts) completed a sweep of her 3-year-old filly Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund $20,000 eliminations Wednesday with a 2:00.4 win. Dark Duchess, a He's Spooky filly, overcame an early break in stride near the quarter-mile to regroup and make the lead approaching the half-mile and she would never relent in her victory over Miss Popeye and Bella's Party Punk. Embrace The Grind was victorious via a 2:01 front end score over Just As Striking and Rich N Royal. The Keystone Activator gelding has won 10 of 13 career starts for his owner/trainer. Disco Soliel (Rod Allen) won the first of two non-wagering events, this one for fillies. Owned by Rod Allen for trainer Carlo Poliseno, the CR Commando filly was a 2:02.2 winner over Cierra’s Choice and Royal Locket. It was her eighth career win. Meanwhile, Bay Pond Racing’s Dr Grinch (Jeff Fout) was a wire-to-wire winner in the second non-wagering division, this one for colts and geldings. The Giant Hit gelding held off all comers on the front and was a half-length winner over Go Jetem and Phantom Feet. The top eight point earners from the 3-year-old DSBF events will return to compete in $100,000 finals on July 25. Allan Davis won four races, while Jon Roberts won three. Ross Wolfenden and Montrell Teague each had two.
