75th Season Over, Davis, Crissman Win Titles10/20/2021 6:34 PM - Harrington Raceway’s 75th anniversary season of live harness racing came to a close with a 15-race card Wednesday evening. Leading driver and trainer accolades were presented to Allan Davis (driver) and Chuck Crissman Jr. (trainer) respectively. Davis (135 wins), who won back-to-back titles, led the standings most of the meet over Montrell Teague, Art Stafford Jr., Patrick Berry and Victor Kirby. Davis is the son of perennial former driving champ Eddie Davis, who won over 8,000 races. Davis closed out the meet with 5 wins on the program. Art Stafford Jr. had a driving triple, including Scuola Hanover ($4) who was a 1:53.3 winner in a $19,000 conditioned race for pacing mares for co-owners Art and Andrew Stafford and Thomas Ireland. Scuola Hanover has had a banner season with more than $165,000 earned for trainer and co-owner Andrew Stafford, who had 2 wins on the card. Meanwhile, Crissman (58 wins) notched his 1st training title in many years. After a training hiatus in 2010, Crissman started training horses again in 2019 and is on pace for one of his best seasons to date in his 20-plus year career. Crissman Jr. led Joe Columbo, Josh Green, Jim King Jr., and Nick Callahan in the trainer standings. Quiksilvr Bluechip ($5.20, Victor Kirby) won the overnight featured $19,000 Junior Open Trot in 1:56.2 for co-owner/trainer/driver Kirby. Trainer Joe Columbo notched his 3rd straight card with multiple wins with a double, joining the aforementioned Stafford and Tyler Davis. Mike Cole and Victor Kirby each had driving doubles. Live racing in Delaware will now shift 20 miles north to Dover Downs, which will commence a Monday through Thursday schedule starting November 1.
