Press Releases
71st season underway
An overcast sky on an unseasonably cool spring day greeted customers at Harrington Raceways's opening night for the track's 71st season of live harness racing.
Long shot fans didn't have to wait long as Big Bucks Bo ($28.20, Toby Lynch Jr.) captured the first race of the season for his owner/trainer/driver.
In the $16,000 Open Pace feature, Josh Green's Poisonous ($3.60, Ross Wolfenden) was victorious in 1:52 for his owner/trainer. The 5-year-old Art Major stallion had a successful Harrington debut with a powerful and confident first over charge that saw him out-kick pacesetter Captive Audience in the stretch for a decisive win. Rangers Sureshot was second with Captive Audience third. It was the ninth lifetime win for the winner.
Another Green-trained horse prevailed in the sixth race as L&J Racing Inc.'s Gerard N Mo ($3, Allan Davis) and remained unbeaten with his 4th lifetime win in as many starts in 1:57. The Rock N Roll Heaven colt had won his previous three starts at Dover Downs.
Live racing will be conducted on a Monday through Thursday schedule through June 12, when the schedule shifts to Monday through Wednesday until June 28.
