Harrington Raceway's culminated its 70th anniversary of live racing Thursday with closing night awards on the 13-race program.
Victor Kirby took his first ever driving title in dramatic fashion, after leading by three going into the program over Ross Wolfenden, Kirby quickly sealed the title with four wins in the first six races on the program.
"This is special," said Kirby, who has long been a popular member of the harness racing community. "I love racing here and I want to thank all the owners and trainers who give me the opportunity."
Kirby finished the meet with 124 wins.
Meanwhile, Joe Hundertpfund Jr. clinched his second training title earlier in the week. Hundertpfund (33 wins), who won the Harrington title in 2012, had a consistent meet throughout and finished six wins ahead of his closest pursuer, Mike Hall.
"It's great to win this title here," said Hundertpfund Jr. "I've raced all over the east coast, but I really love racing here.. Hats off to the grounds crew, who kept this track great throughout the season and did an outstanding job."
Allan Davis had four wins on the program.
