Wolfenden Wins Five, Including Two DSBF Finals

More than $500,000 in total purses was at stake Wednesday night at Harrington Raceway as the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) $100,000 final events for 2-year-olds headlined the program.
It was a big night for driver Ross Wolfenden who was the winning pilot in two of the final events and had five wins on the program.
Wolfenden guided unbeaten trotter Master Clave ($2.10) to his fourth straight win in 2:02.1 for owner Ben Brooks. The Master Lavec gelding set all the fractions and drew away with ease from Kirby In Command and Jiggs, who rounded out the trifecta. Master Clave was trained by John Wilkerson.
Wolfenden later sprung a mild upset with Jo Ann Looney King's Logan's Girl ($11.40), who was a 1:56 winner in the filly pacing final over stable mate and 1-to-9 favorite Spanish Dream, who was second. Westwind Roddylee was third.
A daughter of Roddy's Bags Again for trainer Jim King Jr., "Logan" sat behind the favorite throughout and surged by in deep stretch for her fourth career win in five lifetime starts.
In the final for pacing colts and geldings, George Teague Jr.'s Henry The Dragon ($4.80, Montrell Teague) was a dominant winner in 1:53.1. The Clyde Francis-trainee rebuffed the early challenge of Almost Cut My Hair and was an six-length winner over Wake Up and Go and Hallie's Comet. Henry The Dragon, a son of Custard The Dragon, improved to 3-for-3 in his career. The time equaled the track record for 2-year-old pacing colts, set by Powerful Mist in 2010.
Rodney Mitchell Jr.'s Meantrotnjean ($29.40, Allan Davis) was victorious in the filly trotting final for trainer Leigh Raymer, with a 2:02.1 score. The CR Commando filly maintained a big lead going to three-quarters and overpowered her rivals for her second career win. Luv Is Blind charged home for second with Gogh Cinorita third.
Wolfenden also took the overnight feature, the $17,700 Open Trot with a 1:56.3 score aboard Joe and Laurie Davino's Take My Picture ($9.20).
