DSBF Trotters In ActionAs the opening week of the first leg of 2-year-old stakes events continued for the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF), it was the trotters turn to showcase their talent in four $20,000 divisions on Wednesday at Harrington Raceway. Benjamin Brooks’ Master Clave ($2.40, Ross Wolfenden) won his elimination in dominant fashion and improved to 2-for-2 in his career for trainer John Wilkerson with a front stepping 2:04 victory. The Master Lavec gelding won a DSBF prep race on September 14. Another son of Master Lavec was victorious in the remaining colts and geldings division as Master Kingpin ($8, Art Stafford Jr.) prevailed in 2:05.3. Master Kingpin is owned and trained by Thomas Lail. Willow Mill Stable's Willow Mill Anna ($16.60, Gordon Barrett) won the first division for fillies with a 2:05.3 front end win. The daughter of Political Briefing is trained by her driver. Leigh Raymer-trained and co-owned Luv Is Blind ($2.80, Victor Kirby), who prevailed in the final division in 2:02.3. The daughter of Keystone Activator hit the line first in the nick of time in a tight photo over Spoonful. In the $17,500 overnight feature, the Open Trot, Mike Casalino and Dylan Davis' Theresademoninme ($5.60, Jon Roberts) triumphed in 1:55.3. Theresademoninme marched to the early lead through fractions of 27.3, 57.2, and 1:26.4 while Steel Reserve mounted his first-over attack and Hemi Seelster sat in pocket position. As they hit the top of the stretch, Theresademoninme maintained the lead and held off Steel Reserve to the wire. Hemi Seelster finished third. All $100,000 final events for trotters and pacers will be contested on October 5. |
