Davis, Givens win respective titlesHarrington Raceway’s 68th season of live harness racing came to an end Thursday evening.
Four-time leading driver Ross Wolfenden capped the meet-ender with four driving wins, but it was not enough to catch Allan Davis, who won his first career title with 157 wins at the meet, while Wolfenden was second with 150. Victor Kirby (127) finished third.
The 38-year-old Davis is the son of one of the most accomplished drivers in the Mid-Atlantic region, Eddie Davis, winner of more than 8,000 races lifetime.
Trainer Wayne Givens earned his second training title with 66 wins. Joe Hunderptfund Jr. was second with 51 wins, while Josh Green was third with 31.
Meanwhile, horse of the meet honors went to trotter I Like My Boss for owners Bob Shahan, Ashley Parsons and Jimmy Parsons. Trained by Shahan, I Like My Boss started his career with an incredible 15 consecutive wins before his first defeat. He started 10 times at Harrington in 2014 with nine victories.
Live racing on the Delaware circuit now shifts 20 miles north to Dover Downs, which opens its meet on November 2.
