Delmarvalous, one of six DSBF winners MondayA total of six $20,000 divisions of the first leg for pacers in the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) stakes for 2-year-old pacers were held Monday at Harrington Raceway for pacers.
Badlands Racing, George Teague, Elmer Fannin and H. Dorfman’s Delmarvalous ($2.10, Corey Callahan) was the fastest winner, after a 1:55.1 performance. The Teague-trainee has now won 4-of-7 lifetime, after pacing by pacesetter Amazing Quest in deep stretch for the win.
It was one of three wins in DSBF action on the night for Teague, who also trained and co-owns fillies Model Legs ($2.10, Callahan, 1:55.1) and VIP Stable and Dennis Polimeni’s Naughty Indeed ($2.80, Jim Morand, 1:58.1), both victorious. Ben Stafford and Ben Stafford Jr.’s Top Land ($10.60, George Dennis, 1:58) was the remaining filly divisional winner. Top Land was trained by Ben Stafford.
Julianne Watkins and J&E Stable’s Cool Runnings ($26.60, Eddie Davis Jr., 1:58.2) and Joann Looney-King’s Enee Weenie and Me ($31.60, Jim King Jr., 1:56.3) were upset winners in their colt divisions. Cool Runnings was conditioned by Janet Davis, while ‘Enee’ was trained by his driver, King Jr.
The second leg of DSBF action for pacers will be contested Monday October 19, while the $100,000 finals for both gaits will be raced on October 26 as part of a super stakes card that will also field the Bobby Quillen Memorial Final.
In the overnight featured $25,000 Open, Larry Baron’s Domitian Hanover ($3.60, Vince Copeland) was a decisive winner in 1:53 for trainer Josh Green. |
