Robert Shahan’s Jett Propelled ($5.40, Jason Thompson) gave him the best birthday present Tuesday at Harrington Raceway, a win in the $22,500 Mares Open in 1:54.
The 5-year-old Roddy’s Bags Again mare fought off a game Always B Merry to the finish for her 11th win of the season and 3rd in a row from outside posts. Always B Merry was second with Scrivener Hanover third. Jett Propelled has been the top mare on the circuit, banking nearly $230,000 this season for her owner/trainer Shahan. Jett Propelled, a winner of nearly $600,000 in her career and Delaware sire stakes champion, is having her best season to date, following consecutive years of $100k seasons.
Brandon Givens and Trae Porter each had driving doubles.
Live racing will continue on a Monday through Wednesday schedule through October 21.
