George and Tina Dennis Inc.’s Every Day Dan ($10.60, Mike Cole) recorded a 1:55.1 triumph in the $22,500 Open Trot Wednesday at Harrington Raceway.
Every Day Dan, sent off at 4-to-1, set the early fractions of 28.1 and 57.0 seconds while Arrowhead Hanover was parked on the outside and applied pressure. Speed Away waited patiently in the pocket with no change to the lead through three-quarters in 1:26. In the stretch, Every Day Dan held off a fierce late charge from Speed Away for his 4th win of the year. Trained by Joe Columbo, the 6-year-old Dover Dan gelding notched his 20th career win. Arrowhead Hanover, despite the overland route, finished third.
