Blue Million Upsets Harrington Open Trot

Stephen Stoll and Nathan Yoder’s A Blue Million ($27, Montrell Teague) was a 1:56.1 winner in the featured $22,500 Open Trot Wednesday at Harrington Raceway in 1:56.1.

Ever Clever led the Open field to the opening quarter mile in 27.4 seconds. Race favorite (9/5) Fruit Snacker was the first to move but made a costly break to foil his bid for a 4th straight win, leaving Ever Clever on top to the half-mile in 57 seconds and three-quarters in 1:26 as the field closed in on the final turn. A flurry of horses closed through the stretch with A Blue Million fanning seven wide and getting up to score his 6th win of the year. The 5-year-old Swan In A Million gelding recorded his 21st career win for trainer Tim Crissman. Greenspan was second with Arrowhead Hanover third.

Owner Frank Chick and trainer Jamie Sullivan teamed up for an early double after trotters Ready Freddie ($5.20, Tony Morgan) and Kinnder Icecube ($13.60, Jason Green) were victorious. It was one of a trio of wins on the card for Green.

Also on the undercard, David Nielson’s Bellsforall ($5.40, Allan Davis) won a $14,500 conditioned trot in 1:57.1 for trainer Erin Nielson.
