Robert Bailey’s My Miki Beach ($22.80, Troy Beyer) scored an upset in the $20,000 Delaware Special Monday at Harrington Raceway.
Looking for a third straight win, Hundred Dollar Man left the gate in aggressive fashion from post position seven and marched to the front to a fast opening quarter of 26.3 seconds. Hundred Dollar Man led the field through the half-mile in 55.3 and three-quarters in 1:24, while My Miki Beach awaited room off a perfect pocket trip. Wager On Me rallied from between horses and Steven’s Saloon surged wide amongst a closely bunched field. It took a photo to separate the blanket finish, with My Miki Beach emerging victorious for his 3rd straight triumph for trainer Ryan Bailey. The 7-year-old Always B Miki gelding recorded his 5th win of the season. Wager On Me was second with Steven’s Saloon third.
Michael Kimelman and Joseph Costable’s Portugal The Man ($65.60, Russell Foster) was an upset winner in the 3rd race. The 4-year-old Well Said gelding notched his first win of the year off a stalking trip where he upended the 3-to-5 favorite with a strong stretch surge for co-owner/trainer Kimelman.
Art Stafford Jr. had 4 wins on the card, while Pat Berry drove a trio of winners.
