Harrington Raceway’s 79th Live Racing Season In The Books

Harrington Raceway’s 79th season of live harness racing came to a close with a 15-race program Wednesday.

End of meet honors highlighted the program as Joe Columbo (62 wins) won his 5th training title over Joe Hundertpfund Jr. and Crissy Crissman-Bier. Driver Montrell Teague (101 wins) earned his second straight driving title over Corey Callahan and Allan Davis.

The Delaware Valley Chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association voted Breakaway Racing and Yorwallahan Racing Team’s Speed Away (trotter) horse of the meet. The Father Patrick 7-year-old had 7 wins in 11 starts, all in Open level events, including 3 from post 8. His last 14 wins over the past 2 years have come at Harrington.

In the racing feature, Tyler Long’s Vlahos ($13, Pat Berry) was a 1:55.4 winner over Sassy Reagan and Kodack Black. The John Dixon-trainee notched his 9th win of the year and surpassed $114,000 in seasonal earnings.

The live racing circuit in Delaware now shifts to Bally’s Dover, which will open on November 3.
