DSBF Finals Headline Fair Day Program

Harrington Raceway’s richest program of the season was contested on opening night of the Delaware State Fair Thursday with an 11-race card.

A total of $635,000 in purses were contested, including four $110,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund Finals for 3-year-olds.

Jane Dunavant’s Kat’s Fancy ($2.40, Cody Poliseno) won the filly trotting final in a 9-length romp over Buttoncandy and Peggys Girl. The Dusty Winner filly notched her 4th straight win for trainer Carlo Poliseno in 1:59.4.

Forrest Bartlett’s Primo Maschio ($2.10, Trae Porter) was a 1:53.2 winner in the male pacing final over Shore Not Beach and Wyatt Earp. The Badlands Hanover gelding improved 16-for-19 lifetime for trainer Walt Callahan and continued his dominance of DSBF events, winning his 3rd final.

Rodney Wyatt and Kevin Peck’s Valentina Station ($38.20, Eddie Dennis) was an upset winner in the filly pacing final over Little Miss Peyton and Bella Artiste in 1:56.3. The Badlands Hanover filly set all the fractions in the 4th win of her career.

Stacy Johnson-Stafford’s Yale ($2.10, Art Stafford Jr.) was a 1:59.4 winner over Wolfpack Cheddar and Delaware Xactly in the male trotting final. The EL Platinum colt notched his 4th win in 6 lifetime starts for trainer/driver Stafford Jr.

The $50,000 Governor’s Cup highlighted a series of long-standing races for older horses. Tlb Racing’s CaptainCountrystar ($7.80, Montrell Teague) was a 1:51.2 winner over Downers Delight and Adam Twelve for trainer Traci Berry.

Breakaway Racing and Yorwollohan Racing Team’s Speed Away ($3.80, Corey Callahan) won the $35,000 Charles Murphy Jr. Memorial Trot in 1:55 over Swan Flyer and Muscle Dynasty. The Nick Callahan-trainees last 13 wins have come at Harrington. The Wiz Kids Stable’s Disturbed Hanover ($7, Barton Dalious) was a 1:53.3 winner over Grandeur Seelster and Sweet Molly in the $35,000 Legislator’s Cup. Trained by Bart Dalious, it was her 38th career win.
