Baron Racing Stable’s Sportsfancy ($9.40, Brad Hanners) overcame post seven to win the $20,000 Mares Open at Harrington Raceway Tuesday in 1:54.3.
The 6-year-old Sportsmaster mare had previously been competing against the top mares in the country at the Meadowlands. The Josh Green-trainee gained ground second over before surging in deep stretch for a narrow win over Don’ttellmewhattodo and Ireneonthemove. Sportsfancy increased her lifetime earnings to more than $941,000 as she picked up her 42nd career victory.
Drivers Ross Wolfenden and Jim Morand each had three winners on the program.
