Solano captures Monday Open

It wasn’t long ago that 5-year-old Solano ($3.20, Mike Cole) was a $25,000 claimer, but seven races later the 5-year-old completed his ascent through conditioned ranks with a 1:52.2 win in the $23,000 Open at Harrington Raceway.

Owned by Johnny Waite and Wade & Kathleen Wyatt, ‘Solano’ has won five of seven races for his new connections since being claimed for $25,000 on March 1. Solano made a quarter pole move to the front Monday and never looked back in his two length win over Art Gram and Arizona Liar.

Driver Ross Wolfenden won five races on the program. Corey Callahan had a driving triple.
